EP 001JUL 2026
The myth of waiting until you're ready
The feeling you're waiting for doesn't arrive before the work. It's manufactured by it.
There's a note in my phone that has survived four phones. It's an idea — a good one, I still think — and every migration it comes along, like a houseplant I keep watering and refuse to plant. The note is twelve words long. I have now spent more time backing it up than acting on it.
For years my explanation was that I was waiting until I was ready. That sentence deserved a closer look, because I said it constantly and never once checked what it meant.
